Erdogan giving lessons on freedom of speech! Wow!!!

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

Ovi LehtiRecep Tayyip Erdogan the Turkish prime minister in a speech he gave in front the European Parliament while the body was talking about freedom of speech and religious believes; appeared representing the Islamic world and he tried to express the Islamic opinion on freedom of speech, emphasizing the need of control. He did all that reminding the incident of the Mohammed cartoons adding and demanding that Islam-phobia should become crime against humanity like it is anti-Semitism. Taking things even further the Turkish prime minister talked about Europe in crisis!!!

First of all is a wander how the Turkish prime minister dares talking to a council he doesn’t recognize and oddly enough forcing to accept him as a member. From the minute he doesn’t recognize one of its members doesn’t recognize anybody and it is simple as that.

Then what about the Kurd-phobia and Cyprus-phobia and in extension the Democracy-phobia Turkey is suffering? Their phobia is so strong that after the Armenian genocide leads to the Kurds genocide and they are definitely working hard on the Greek minority termination in Turkey.

If he feels as Islamic leader why doesn’t he organizes the rest of the Islamic countries into an I.U. Islam United?

Freedom of speech? That sounds like a bad joke when it comes to the Islamic world. Shouldn’t Mr. Erdogan before tell us about democracy and freedom of speech, have a look into his own country? By the way, does Mr. Erdogan have any ‘freedom of speech’ himself? Don’t the Turkish generals have to approve every single word he says?

Last, does Europe needs democracy lessons from Turkey? Turkey has proved the last 100 years that the only thing they can export except occupation armies is fascism.

World Cup

Wednesday, June 28th, 2006

Ovi LehtiThe World Cup in Germany moved to the next level of the tournament with Brazil winning Ghana 3-0 and France, Spain 3-1. but everybody seems disappointed and somehow I’m having enough from all the things I’m reading in all the media and the blogs.

Ronaldo did score making a new record but it seems that everybody is talking about his fat. I think the Brazilian team should officially make a statement to all the football fans all around the world because all their players didn’t do the magic triple jump on the air, while flying 100 meters over the ground and score while reading the works of T.S. Eliot.

Then the French team should follow with an apologize statement because the old foggy Zidane after crossed the dangerous thirty years in age (unbelievable age for a football player) and instead of carrying a cane and complain all the time for his arthritics he dared pass three Spanish players and score the last minute of the extended time. Much worst because the former world cup winners dared win Spain. Is this football?

I left England last because it is unbelievable and thanks god the ex-spice girl kissed Beckham before the game so he managed to score, otherwise the man hasn’t got the character to be the captain of the national team, he’s weak and looks depress, his dogs need a psychologist and he bought a new ring for his wife!!! How dare he play football still?

What’s the latest? Don’t look at Ronaldino smiling all the time, he’s an evil character and he hates French after what happened eight years ago!!!

People feel merci!!! I love football and I hate you all. What you are all talking about has nothing to do with football! If you want to watch all the above get a bloody DVD or go to the circus but keep away from football!!!

Man of the year

www.theovimagazine.comBillionaire investor Warren Buffett annouced that he is donating $37bn (£20bn) to Bill Gates’ charitable foundation.

He said he was overjoyed, “This has been coming for 50 years…There’s never really been any other plan in terms of where the money should go.”

I think the most amazing aspect of this is the fact that the size of the foundation’s cash pile dwarfs that of other organisations, especially the $12bn annual budget of the United Nations.

Mr Buffett is worth an estimated $44bn, according to Forbes magazine, but I guess the value of his golden heart is priceless.

Nice one, Mr Buffett.

The US ‘wants to end Guantanamo’

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

Ovi LehtiUS President George W Bush has outlined his position on the US prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, which he says he “would like to end”.

Mr. Bush pledged to send many detainees back to their home countries, but said he wanted to put some on trial because they were “cold-blooded killers”. The comments came after talks with EU leaders at a one-day summit in Vienna.

This is ‘breaking news’ on the online version of BBC and I don’t know why but behind this one ‘but’ I have the feeling that is hiding one much bigger ‘but’ and the distance between ‘I would like to’ to the ‘I will do’ is much bigger than two words. Actually I’m pretty sure that the distance is more than a couple of light-years.

Guantanamo must close here and now and not the ‘thought’ or ‘wish’ to close it to be used as P.R. for better relations between USA and EU.

Private Football?

Blind FootballFootball for the rich only?

Great! Just really great! I don’t know about you guys, but I’m sitting here in Mexico and am pissed off like I haven’t been in a long time. They won’t show the football games on public TV! Now they expect me to go pay some private satellite shit to be able to view THE WORLD CUP!

I know FIFA is private as all fuking bullshit today, but don’t you think that fuking 1000 EUROS!!! TEN THOUSAND PESOS to get into the stadion in Germany plus Thousand euros at least to fly there and back isn’t enough spending to be able to whatch the owrld cup?

I am really sorry if I sound pissed off but I just can’t believe this bullshit! You know how much people earn over here in Mexico? any Idea? Anyways.. those happy ones with tv, will be very dissapointed if they think they are “WORTH” watching the world cup if they don’t pay some fuking satelite private bullshit!

FIFA: YOU SUCK BIG TIME! Isn’t it enough having over 50 THOUSAND people in each game in the stadium.. maybe hundred thousand that EACH pay THOUSAND EUROS? Math’s say that you are earning in each game at least 50,000,000 FIFTY MILLION EUROS! And still can’t afford to allow a public online stream or do SOMETHING?

Okok.. I know… poor rich guys.. haven’t got enough cars yet… need private airplanes and Yachts! Ok ok.. Sorry for my stupidity, I am just an egoist. How can I even dream of FREE public football! I am aware I could go out now and search for some bar to watch the game… badly only I will need to order food to watch the game but sadly I am just not in any mood anymore.. and that pisses me even more off!

Hurray Football!

Mexico’s poverty and the World Cup

Sunday, June 18th, 2006

Ovi lehtiPartly to my two Mexican friends, one live in Mexico and one here in Finland, I started having a special interest on Mexico and in the last issue of Ovi magazine I wrote an article about the demonstration the Mexican immigrants were preparing in USA.

And then world cup started in Germany and Mexico is there. Shining I have to admit since it was one of the few teams that has shown something good till now but still, every time I hear about the football team I cannot avoid thinking that this is a country with 40% of the population in poverty.

Finnish television shown some video from the TV stands different countries have in Germany. Guess which one was the most luxurious! Mexico!!! I found my self screaming at the television screen, forty million man, forty bloody million people!!! I bet nobody listens. I don’t even know if anybody cares, definitely not the ones ruling this South American country. Forty, forty million people!!!

I was reading earlier about the fights between teachers and police in Mexico. What any country needs what any human needs? Food, education, work! How these people can have a better tomorrow without any of them? How we can talk about future in this planet when there are 40 million people without food, education and work? How we can talk about any future.

Now come and watch bloody football and players who negotiated till the last moment for their bonus!!!

Olli Rehn aka Mustafa

Saturday, June 17th, 2006

MustafaEU Commissioner for Expansion, Olli Rehn, has spread good will through Ankara during meetings at the Turkish Parliament this week. Drinking a cup of strong Turkish coffee at the Foreign Affairs commission, Rehn was quoted as saying: “Everyone thinks I am very Turkish. Joschka Fischer (the German Foreign Minister) even calls me ‘Mustafa’ sometimes.”

That was from the Turkey’s press.

Well is it me or Mr. “Mustafa” has misunderstood his role? He is commissioner of Europe’s expansion and not representative of the Turkey’s interests in EU. And if he had been bothered to find out what’s really going on in Europe he would have realized that Europe has a lot of questions about Turkey. Too many questions. Turkey is too far away of meeting the European criteria for a membership and the truth however much they like to hide it in Brussels is that turkey has already failed to meet all the dead lines. For the ones who like not to remember major dead line is in four months and what turkey has done? Nothing. On the contrary they continue their usual arrogant attitude; you are going to change not us!

If Olli Rehn is lobbing for the Turkey’s interests that’s really bad, if he is proud of it is even worst. Mr. Olli Rehn is a Finn and Finns still mourn about Karelia, the land they lost to Russia half a century before and in every occasion the Finns remind the Russians everything about the Finnish minority there. How does he feel now having a part of EU – the very same EU he represents - still occupied from the Turks? And that happened 30 years ago with a military invasion, hundreds innocent dead, and thousands refugees from their own houses?

So Mr. Olli Rehn has better do the job they gave him to do instead of been proud to be called “Mustafa,” otherwise he makes me think that he might have been proud to be called “Valdimir Rehnski” as well!!!

Crappy Brazil

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

ronaldo.gifWhy does everybody rate Brazil so much? Why do commentators bite their upper lip and need a cold shower when presenting one of their matches? Why do so many so-called ‘neutrals’ support this footballing nation? They are just like any other nation, except that they have a reputation.

Did you watch their game against Croatia last night? Did you see that cross Roberto Carlos made that went straight across his own box and to an opposition player who almost scored? Is this the sexy football that everybody raves about? Give me a break, Brazil are a team like Real Madrid; a team full of talent but it doesn’t always gel the way you would expect.

Croatia should have won last night and they should feel proud of their combined efforts. Brazil have usually beaten some teams before the game kicks off, so let’s all try to remember that they are just another team…a team that makes monumental cock-ups.

George and Condoleezza’s family values.

Friday, June 9th, 2006

bush01.gifI checked my calendar just to make sure that this is NOT 1st of April, and then I checked the internet to make sure that this is NOT the international day of pathetic jokes or the international day the press is bulls#%ing and then … I heard it again!

In a morning radio program that goes through news from all around the world and makes comments or interviews if possible people who are close to the events had the unbelievable. Laura Bush moved from the White House to a hotel nearby because she caught George with Condoleezza Rice!!! And I don’t mean she caught them talking in the oval office, she caught them with the pants down!!!

If this is not a joke is the news of the century, is the biggest joke ever. A week after all the speeches about family values? This is … I cannot stop laughing!

The truth is that lately I was a bit depressed but this …made my day. I cannot stop laughing. I checked the internet to find out if it is true but I didn’t find anything and the presenter of the radio show said that is going to come out in some papers tomorrow!!! God definitely has humor!

If somebody has seen anything or read something, please put a link here!!! I still cannot believe that George W. Bush and Condoleezza Rice made me laugh so much!

An underage hate crime

Monday, June 5th, 2006

hackSometimes real life shows that the worst is not here yet and when it comes from your native country it makes it really bad. It was back in issue 4 of Ovi magazine where I wrote a lengthy article about underage crimes and since then I found myself often thinking about it.

Oddly the last few days while writing some articles for our next Ovi magazine came some news from Greece that combined the theme of the magazine, boundaries (for issue 15) and underage crime. But I’ve better tell you what’s going on.

In northern Greece a group of 12 and 14 year old kids killed a 12 year old boy because he was a foreigner, or better an economic immigrant. I’m serious, this was the reason, they were bulling him for a whole year and in the end they killed him.

That combines everything, hate crime, boundaries and underage crime but most of all combines all my disgust for the world where we are brining our kids into.

Suddenly Mr. Jone Nikula and his copycat Ovi magazine looks so small however much it upset me the unfairness of the event.

The last years I often heard the problems second generation kids facing in the country which suppose to hosted their parents and even though not a refugee or a financial immigrant myself that scared me. I have often used the example of a friend’s daughter who every time she applies for a job, she needs to insure them that she speaks Finnish, that Finnish is her mother tongue and even though she carries her fathers surname she’s been in his country only for holidays.

And this happening in Greece? A country that has more Greeks living abroad than Greece? Melbourne is on the top ten cities with Greek population after Athens and Salonica. Greeks know well what immigration means. Is it possible that thing like that happen in Greece? And what about the next generation? The hope for the future!

These kids did a worst crime than killing their immigrant classmate, they killed hope for a better future and I find so difficult to express how I feel been an immigrant even by choice with a little kid myself!

Ovi copycats

Saturday, June 3rd, 2006

jone_nikula.jpgThey say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery…hmmm.

Ovi magazine is so popular that Jone Nikula (former Finnish Idols judge) is using the same name on his forthcoming new free magazine.

In addition, we have been presenting a weekly radio show under the name ‘Ovi Bad Boys’ for nearly four months. The show name is announced every week in the Helsinki Sanomat radio programme section and we talk about Ovi magazine, interview guests and promote events for the foreign community.

After all the expense and effort they have done and will do, they will find that they are coming second and advertising another magazine that might not be their style! From our side, the only thing we have to do is remind them that there are European laws protecting copycats and fourteen months of successful history gives us a good advantage.

We will be sending this mail to all the media (including Ovi magazine network of blogs, forums and sites) nationally and internationally to ensure that people know that this free magazine has nothing to do with us.

If Jone Nikula or anybody connected with this Ovi impostor wishes to contact the original Ovi, please email info@theovimagazine.com

Friday: DigiFrance 2006

Thursday, June 1st, 2006

digifrance.jpgThe French cultural centre, the French-Finnish association for research and technology and Neogames (Finnish association for video games) are the main coordinators of DigiFrance 2006, the first European video game conference to be held on 2 June 2006.

This will be a unique opportunity to meet creators, researchers and companies who will present different exciting aspects of this rapidly developing sector. The conference will take place at High Tech Center-Helsinki (HTC Helsinki Pinta-talo – Room Kolumbus Tammasaarenkatu 1-5 00180 Helsinki)

The video game industry and multimedia creation represent a market value of 18 billion euros, more than two and a half times the turn-over of the American film industry. French companies hold 24% of the world market in game software and therefore the time is ripe for discussion about the development of this lucrative sector in Europe.

Key note speakers include Marita Liulia (founder of the Mobius Nordica prize for multimedia creation), Stéphane Natkin, director of ENJMIN (French school for video games and multimedia), Fernando Herrera (CEO of Rovia Mobile and Pascal Luban game designer of the multi-player versions of Splinter Cell (Ubisoft).
