Ice-ly done

ice.jpgMore than 1000 people gathered in the town of Oulu, in the far north of Finland for the World Championship Winter Swimming. The main aim of the competition is not just who is the fastest swimmer, but mainly who can stand being in the freezing conditions the longest.

Lewis Gordon Pugh from Great Britain won the endurance race of 500 metres, while it was even a test for the audience who had to watch from a stadium built of ice, in temperatures of minus 20 degrees Celsius.

I am proud to be a Brit living in Finland today! Nice one, Mr Pugh!
