Ashes to ashes…at last
Human rights activists in Greece have welcomed a new law passed by parliament which for the first time allows people to be cremated rather than buried. The Greek Orthodox Church has until now opposed cremation, describing it as a violation of the human body.
The graveyards in Athens are already full to overflowing. For many a burial plot is only rented for three years before the body has to be exhumed to make way for the next coffin.
Graveyards, well there are always people dying to get in.
